The history of INTEC dates back to 1982 when we conducted a fair named Endex - 82 for the development of entrepreneurial skills among the enterprising people of Coimbatore.
This was the 1st exhibition in Coimbatore for Entrepreneurial Development and was conducted at the city's President Hall.
In the 1980's, all the major Industrial fairs were conducted only in Mumbai or Delhi. There were no Industrial Exhibitions organized in the South. For the business development of this region and realizing the importance of Trade Fairs, CODISSIA took upon the onus of hosting the 1st Industrial Trade Fair - INTEC 1988. This fair was conducted at the PSG Grounds, Coimbatore with a total number of 300 stalls and the feedback of the show was encouraging. The Entrepreneurs in and around Coimbatore were exposed to the technological development in their particular field and this resulted in the industrial upgrading of their machineries as well as adoption of new technologies.
The major achievement of the Fair was that new Entrepreneurs started getting valuable inputs from Exhibitors. Many Small Scale Industries took part in this fair and the Industrialist base of Coimbatore expanded after the 1st Fair.
The astounding success of INTEC 88 made CODISSIA to conduct the fair once in 4 years and this continued till 2000. Following demand from the industry, we decided to conduct this fair more frequently and had another six editions in a span of eight years. The previous edition of INTEC generated business to the tune of around Rs.3500 Million. To keep the industrialists abreast with the latest technology, a number of Technical Seminars were conducted on various topics pertaining to the needs of the local industries and these seminars were conducted by experts in that particular field.
And our success story continues...
